In My Head

    • Naturally the common people don't want war... but after all it is the leaders of a country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.

Brushes with “Fame” (Intro)

In an attempt to keep myself on track with writing things for this blog, I’ll try a new feature column. These will be short snippets and memories of the few times I’ve run into people or celebrities who are famous for whatever they do. Along the lines of the Spalding Gray entry I wrote awhile back, really. No, there aren’t many of these tales, as I don’t seek out such events. Nor am I normally very impressed with such people merely because they’re famous. And while I may respect a skill, there are actually very few people in the world whom I respect and admire on more than a passing scale, and I tend to do so more for their personality and actual works for others than for their celebrity status (or lack thereof).

So stay tuned, as if I actually keep on track and do this, forthcoming articles will spotlight run-ins with Rod Stewart, Brian Wilson, Alec Baldwin and perhaps an assortment of others just as lacking in excitement for my readers.

I made this announcement post in an attempt to guilt myself into actually writing something. It hasn’t worked yet. But the guilt is building!

Sorry, I haven’t written anything to your rare posts. I, too, am waiting to hear tales of fame.
