Recently, the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE), hosted online by the University of Arizona, released a huge quantity of large images from onboard NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Currently they’ve made available over a thousand high resolution images for the public at large to view. Surprising it takes a 3rd party to get this stuff out there, as NASA materials are supposedly publicly owned and are theoretically available to all. But that’s a different story.
