Recently, I’ve been on a quest to try and find any and all medical records from my childhood. This was spurned by finally getting a regular Dr. after about 10 years, and putting together a medical history. As a child, I know I was given some sort of experimental growth hormone. I remember waking up in the middle of the night with severe “growing” pains because of it. While trying to research the subject, I ran into all these horror stories about other kids who were given these hormones about the same time. A small percentage of them have developed a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disorder called Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD); extremely simply put, it’s a human version of “Mad Cow” Disease. I still haven’t found out exactly what I was given, and when, but the search continues…
